If you want to know how to make your own, Liz put this tutorial together for y'all:

Liz also explains how to make this type of noseband. Photo from Uniquely Equine. |
Go read it. She has all sorts of illustrations and photos, and even went as far as making her own videos just to show you guys. I don't think you'll find a better tutorial online. :) You can appreciate the difficulty of the fiador knot for sure, but it is SO pretty when you get it right that it is totally worth the trouble. Not all rope halters out there have true fiador knots. Usually the cheaper ones just have a regular overhand knot, which explains the lower price tag.
If you can get the hang of the knot, it is SO much cheaper to just make your own rope halters (and bridles; Liz makes her own bridles too, and she included the instructions in her post!) You could have a different rope halter for every day of the week if you wanted to!
Enjoy the tutorial! :)

You WOULD find a picture of 3 of those knots. Or did Charles do it? *shakes head* you silly Sea Scouts.
ReplyDeleteI found that photo! :D Googled "fiador knot" images. And did you notice I even matched all the things? Lol
DeleteYou started a trend! I tested D's willingness to participate in this madness by addressing it as a challenge: Hey, how good at knots are you? Challenge accepted! I've just got to get the rope! Yay for Liz making a tutorial!
ReplyDeleteYou have to tell us how it goes! It's pretty awesome once you get the hang of that knot. :D
DeleteOh my gosh, thank you for this!!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! :)
