Now that we are living in a gorgeous area with seasons, hills, and an outdoorsy community, I want to officially become a fit rider again.
So my goal for this summer is to run (or rather "run", as I'm a chronic run/walker) at least 3 days a week, with the ultimate goal of setting this as a new routine. Studies show that doing something for 90 days is enough to make that something become a habit. To keep myself accountable in the meantime, I will post at least 1 photo from each run on this blog.
We live in a really awesome neighborhood. It used to be a dairy farm! You could never tell now when walking around the houses, duplexes, condos, apartments and townhouses. However, the original farm buildings are preserved and still standing in a corner of the neighborhood. This is the view from our apartment balcony. Those of you who are my friends on Facebook have seen our view, as I posted several photos over the winter of the snowy barn buildings. Beautiful!
There are a dozen little parks sprinkled throughout the neighborhood, a little store area with a grocery store, an ice cream shop, a sushi place, and a couple of other stores and businesses. There are also 2 public pools, and a HUGE park with a steep hill topped by trees. Every time Charles and I have gone out for a stroll, we discover something new. So the photos I will post will be of all of those little discoveries we make, all the little bits of beauty we find with each run.
Mushrooms growing on a tree.
Butterflies stenciled into the sidewalk leading up to a house. Almost missed this-happened to look down as I was walking by. It was the only house on that street with these butterflies.
GORGEOUS flowers in front of a townhouse. They were a massive bush.
Went solo in the morning, as Charles was sleeping because he had to work tonight. Did 30 minutes total, alternating walking 3 minutes and sprinting for 30 seconds for the duration of the 30 minutes. Got lost on the way back, so ended up adding an additional 15 minutes of walking. I really thought that would be an easy workout. The last 2 sprint sets were a b*tch to eke out, and my muscles felt like noodles. I had not run on hills in...8 years. Wow! It doesn't get any flatter than FL, seriously. It's nice to finally have inclines again!
